At the moment, the world is once again reverting to imperial thinking, while Europe continues to cling to a form of nationalism that is almost religiously celebrated. Our power is not declining because we are poor, but because we are divided. Greenland illustrates this particularly clearly. It ...shows us unmistakably why it is a bad idea to depend on the United States when it comes to matters of defense.
Europe currently negotiates like a committee. As a result, European states often manage to agree only on what cannot be done, instead of jointly deciding what must be done next. A union with 27 vetoes is not a union, it is a committee. Committees are suited to drafting rules, not to providing strategic direction.
That is why abolishing the veto right is essential if Europe is to become strategically capable, finally speak with one voice, and shape its own future. We therefore call for a federal Europe that is effective in a changed world.

Anhand dessen erleben wir sehr deutlich, warum es eine schlechte Idee ist, in Fragen der Verteidigung von den USA abhängig zu sein. Europa verhandelt zurzeit wie ein Ausschuss. Das führt dazu, dass sich die europäischen Staaten oft nur darauf einigen können, was nicht geht, anstatt gemeinsam zu entscheiden, was als Nächstes getan werden muss. Eine Union mit 27 Vetos ist keine Union, sie ist ein Ausschuss. Ausschüsse eignen sich für Regeln, nicht für strategische Ausrichtungen. Deshalb ist die Abschaffung des Vetorechts essenziell, damit Europa strategisch handlungsfähig wird, endlich mit einer Stimme spricht und seine Zukunft selbst gestaltet. Daher fordern wir ein föderales Europa, das in einer veränderten Welt wirksam ist.

„What can Europe do to deter America from seizing Greenland?
Regardless of whether the US threat is real or will ever materialize, Europeans must prepare themselves by:
1. Making the U.S. aware of the implications of seizing Greenland:
- End of NATO as we know it
- Every NATO ally becomes a potential annexation target
- Arctic militarization with Russia and China on steroids
- EU, not DK alien, reclaims the territory through Greenland accession
2. Preparing a deterrent package, by threatening to:
- Suspend U.S. trade deals
- Coordinate sell-off of U.S. debt holdings
- Create conditions for Greenlanders to determine what they want (independence, enhanced autonomy, or EU membership)
- Invoke EU mutual defense clause preemptively (Article 42.7 TEU)
Only this would signal that any threat to Greenland is a threat to all EU members, triggering collective defense obligations
If Europe can get its act together, it can stand up to Trump well beyond Greenland 🇬🇱“
