European election 2019 -We stood up for Europe
61 percent of all Germans voted ( in 2014 it was 48 percent) – and the vast majority voted for one of the pro-European parties!
A clear sign: Europe is alive! People do care who governs in Brussels. The majority wants parties that preserve, advance, improve Europe. A Europe united in peace, freedom and democracy.
The majority apparently does not want to see those govern who want more power for nation states and less influence for Europe. They do not want to see the common institutions weakened, not Europe divided. Such anti-European parties were also in the running. There were great fears that they could secure a significant share of seats in the European Parliament.
A fateful election – nothing less than the peace project Europe was at stake!
Our goal was: to motivate as many voters as possible. Europe lovers, but also those who did not have the importance of Europe and this election so much on the screen.
This was impressively achieved with 61 percent voter turnout.
By the way, voter turnout also increased among our European neighbors – it was the highest turnout in 20 years! With your support, we succeeded in bringing people FOR Europe onto the streets and getting them to make a clear commitment FOR Europe.
