Stand with Ukraine: Pulse of Europe joins Brussels demonstration in solidarity with Ukraine, urging stronger European action on Greenland

Today, Europe marks the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. To commemorate this, Pulse of Europe Brussels was participating in the public demonstration ‘Memory Obliges’, organised by Promote Ukraine with the support of the Ukrainian Embassy in Belgium, which took place on Place Albertine, Brussels, on 22 February 2026.

Pulse of Europe joined concerned citizens and civil society organisations to reaffirm its unwavering solidarity with the Ukrainian people. Within its speech at the manifestation on 22 February 2026, the movement also drew attention to the growing geopolitical tensions surrounding Greenland, urging European leaders to treat both crises as part of a broader and urgent need for a stronger, more united and strategically autonomous European Union.

Call to action
Pulse of Europe urged European leaders to ensure an effective and sustained defense of the principle of territorial integrity. In this regard, the defense of Ukraine reflects a single, defining political priority for our continent: Europe must protect its independence, its citizens, and its democratic values in an increasingly hostile global environment.

Russia’s aggression against Ukraine shattered the illusion of lasting peace in Europe, while recent destabilising statements and pressures surrounding Greenland underscore that the Arctic is now a major fault line in global power politics. In both theatres, Europe faces external attempts to undermine its dignity, independence, and geopolitical integrity.

At a critical juncture for the future of Ukraine, when revisionist powers challenge international law, when the Arctic is increasingly targeted by global competitors, and when the reliability of Europe’s traditional allies can no longer be taken for granted, Pulse of Europe stresses that the EU must rise to the scale of events. Fragmentation and strategic dependence expose the Union to significant vulnerabilities.

Now is the time for unity, courage, and shared responsibility. These are Europe’s first and strongest lines of defence.

The situation in Ukraine, and now Greenland, serves as a stark reminder that Europe is still perceived as an undefended geopolitical space, one whose territory and strategic assets can be tested, pressured, or seized. For Pulse of Europe, Ukraine and Greenland are not peripheral concerns but concrete historical tests of Europe’s collective resolve. By standing up for Ukraine and Greenland, Europeans defend not only two specific territories but also the very idea of an independent, autonomous, and dignified Europe.
