Pulse of Europe stands with Ukraine – Speech on Brussels Manifestation 22 February 2026

Dobry den, Dear friends of Ukraine,

We shall prove ourselves once again able to defend our home, to ride out the storm of war, and to outlive the menace of tyranny, if necessary for years, if necessary alone.

These powerful words from Winston Churchill remind us all what is at stake. And what was true in 1940, is sadly still true today.

My name is Frederic, I am German and an activist of Pulse of Europe Brussels. We are a new-born chapter of our citizens’ movement for Europe, with activists in over 50 Cities. We are here to say: Ukraine’s fight is our fight!

Pulse of Europe is supporting Ukraine in many ways: We run a charity project, UkraineHelper, and we are currently collecting videos from different corners of Europe in which activists and politicians declare their unwavering support for Ukraine. We are doing this also here today, on the manifestation – please get in touch with us if you also want to make a statement! We will publish these videos in two days on Instagram, to set a sign of solidarity on 24th of February.

Today, we want to send a message to the brave people of Ukraine: We see you. We hear you. We stand with you. You are not alone in this struggle. You are fighting for your freedom, for your future, for your children—and you are fighting for all of us. It is time to put an end to the Russian war of aggression! We call on European leaders: Support the brave Ukrainian people in their fight for independence and freedom! Ukraine might not yet have won the war, but Ukraine has already won the moral right to join the European Union. We say: Ukraine is part of our European family! Now is the time for Ukrainian accession to the EU!

But let’s be clear: For this, we need a stronger Europe. A Europe that is resilient, active, and capable of fighting back against imperialism. A Europe that defends the integrity of all its borders—everywhere, from North to South, from the Artic to the very sovereign borders of Ukraine. I see some Greenland flags here today. That is a beautiful symbol. It shows: Europe is more than just a continent. Europe is an idea, a promise, a family with a common destiny.

Dear friends, Let’s face it: We cannot be satisfied if European leaders stay with their slow pace of European integration. We cannot be satisfied if everyone talks about military cooperation, but big common projects like the FCAS fighter jet are given up because of national preferences. And we can never be satisfied if people like Viktor Orban are trying to undermine our support for Ukraine! When our big neighbours try to divide and conquer, it is time for Europe to wake up and unite! 2026 should be remembered as the year when Europe found its heart beating again. United States of Europe now!

Let me say one thing here today: As long as Putin’s war of aggression continues, as long as people in Ukraine are freezing, suffering, and dying every day, we know: Europe has not done its job yet. And let me put this straight: We will not stop until Ukraine has won this war!

So what can we take home from this powerful manifestation? Dear friends of Ukraine, it is time for us to unite. Let’s get to know each other, let’s work together, let’s fight together. Together we must and we will speak up and build a common future. For that the war in Ukraine will end, for that Europeans finally recognise their strength and for that we all find ourselves united on this beautiful continent, our home, living together in peace, prosperity and solidarity, very soon.

So this is just the beginning. We – will – not – stop!

Let’s show the world what Europe stands for.
